Information about the Argonne Running Club programs
Would you like to join the Argonne Running Club? Click for
the Membership form (in pdf) .
The membership fee covers
- Argonne Running Club Newsletter
- A chance to win raffle prizes at fun runs
- A small subsidy of the entry fee at selected road races
The Argonne Running Club will be separately raffling off two donated prizes in 2005. One is a $100 gift certificate to Dick Pond Athletics, provided by store management (four stores in the Chicago area). The other is a free entry to the Chicago Marathon, provided by the LaSalle Bank. These prizes will be given to members of the Argonne Running Club based on membership and participation in club activities in 2005.
The $100 gift certificate will be awarded in the following manner: For each club member, a raffle ticket will be entered into the pool. In addition, each time a member registers, or works, at one of the club's events in 2005, a ticket for the member will be entered into the pool. The more events a member enters (or works), the greater will be the chance of winning. At the end of October, the club will hold the drawing. (The gift certificate expires at the end of November, 2005.)
The Chicago Marathon entry will be awarded in essentially the same manner. However, in order to be eligible, you need to be planning on running the marathon. The prize will not be given to someone who is not intending on running the marathon. This prize will be awarded in early summer (June or July) by a random drawing. Again, the more a member registers or works for club events, the greater the chance of winning. To be fair to all remaining club members, the winner of the marathon entry will not be eligible for the gift certificate raffle. (This year, the Chicago Marathon is on October 9.)

 | The Running Club Party was held at the Kerry Piper on January 31st. Limits on DOE websites mean that most of the pictures could not be put on the website. We show pictures of our youngest member, resplendent in his Argonne Running Club shirt -- who has clearly run his shoe off -- and a picture of our youngest and oldest member. | |
In December 2001, Tom Braid organized a cross country run. The weather was unseasonably warm -- the trail in some places was very slick but otherwise fine.
This year, Chemistry returned the trophy for the McKee trophy. Paul Eident has supplied the pictures which can be seen here.
Pictures from the Lets put giving back in Thanksgiving run organized by Lovely Pruett and Kristi Wood. Pictures by Don Bohringer, as he tries out the new camera he got for retirement
Pictures of the Chicago Marathon taken by John Koss. You can see an Argonne Runners Club sign in the back of one of the pictures. Otherwise they are pictures of the Palos Road-Runners club, John's wife and their fixation on bananas.
Another year, another red dress run. Another superb collection of pictures by Don Bohringer. See all the pictures here This year again we are fortunate to have pictures taken by Stan Niehoff (IPD-MED) and they can be found here.

With a cross country run course in the European tradition, water, mud but no plowed fields, Tom Braid provided a "pleasant" lunchtime of running for the pictured contingent. More pictures can be seen here.

In 2000, Argonne's 8 member River-to-River Relay team (under the name of 4 does and 4 bucks again took part in this 80 mile run from the Mississipi to the Ohio River. This year, there are no pictures at the Ohio river, only at the finish line in the dark! We were given a late starting time and finished with Boh, chased by farm dogs and bats, coming across the finish line using a flashlight. This year we see the many passes made on the course from the Mississippi to the Ohio. Somehow the team was alternately female and male! Previous pictures are in the old pictures section. .
