| Cinco-de-Mayo
Tamale Sale, May 3, 2007. The Argonne HLC sponsored
their first Tamale Sale of the year. Tamales were sold by the dozen
and half-dozens. This year, the Club offered two kinds of tamales--chicken
and pork. Tamales were delivered to the Lobby of Building 201 where
hungry customers patiently waited in line for their order. Drinks
and baked goodies were also available for purchase. The Club sold
260 dozen tamales -- that's 3,120 tamales!! The
Club wishes to THANK
the Argonne and DOE community for their support!!

| Cinco-de-Mayo
Social, May 3, 2007. The Argonne Hispanic-Latino Club
held a Cinco-de-Mayo social at the Exchange Club. Horizontes Mexicanos,
a children's dance company, which consists of six seniors from different
high schools from the City of Chicago, performed folkloric dances
from Mexico for the attendees. A Mary Kay basket was raffled off --
the winner was Jackie York from DOE-Argonne Site Office. Congratulations
Jackie! |
"Make
your Own Torta" Social, May 31, 2007. The Argonne
Hispanic-Latino Club held a "Make Your Own Torta." social.
A torta is a Mexican sandwich (ham or turkey meat), served on
an oblong 6-8 inch firm, crusty white sandwich roll, called a bolillo
or telera. Several DOE and Argonne employees attended the event.
Leopoldo Suescun made a presentation on Uruguay.
